Corn

Corn has been grown for thousands of years and is today one of the most important crops in the world. Corn has many uses and comes in many different colors, forms, and flavors. Sweet corn, Zea mays var. saccharata, is the "regular" corn we eat fresh directly from the garden, boil, barbeque, etc. Normally sweet corn is yellow in color, but also multicolored varieties occur. Popcorn, Zea mays var. everta, can be found in almost every color. The cobs are shiny and beautiful and can besides being popped into popcorn be used for decoration. Flour corn, Zea mays var. amylacea, and dent corn can also be found in almost any color. These varieties can be ground to flour, used as animal feed och used for cooking, in pots, pies, etc. Many varieties are very colorful and beautiful and can also be used as decoration.
