Maralinga, 'Maralinga Dwarf Tomato' is a dwarf variety growing up to 100cm in height. Heavy yielder of smooth, oblate small beefsteak tomatoes, around 150-300grams each. Beautiful, dark-red-black fruits with intense "dark" tomato flavor. Rugose, dark green foliage, regular leaf. Derives from a cross between an early generation from "the Sleepy Family" called 'Wilpena' and 'Cherokee Purple' by Patrina Nuske Small in 2008 and was called "Plentiful". 'Maralinga' was then selected and named by Patrina. Maralinga is a place in southern Australia where Great Britain tested nuclear weapons in 1950. Iditarod Red, 'Iditarod Red Tomato' is a dwarf variety growing up to 90cm in height. Produces round, smooth mid-sized tomatoes, around 60-100grams each. Bright-red fruits with a well-balanced tomato flavor. Rugose, dark green foliage, regular leaf. Was developed between 2006 and 2011 from a selection from "the Grumpy Family", a cross between 'Budai Torpe' and 'Black from Tula', by Patrina Nuske Small in 2006. A selection grown by Richard Allen in Australia was then sent to Sue Bailey in Alaska. Bailey selected and named 'Iditarod Red' after a famous dog sled race between Anchorage and Nome, Alaska.
