Dwarf - D. T. P.
Dwarf Tomato Project (D. T. P.) is a tomato breeding project that has been going on for more than 10 years, with growers participating all around the world. The goal is to create a number of low-maintenance tomato varieties with delicious flavor, variations of size, colors, and use. Today the project has introduced about 130 different awesome varieties!
Characteristics the varieties have in common are that the plant height varies from 60-140cm depending on the variety. They have rugose (crinkly) foliage and grow with very thick stems. They need no pruning of the suckers. They need no support height-wise but require staking or support on the width. The branches get heavy when the plant sets fruit and will fall over without staking. They all work well to grow in larger pots or such, wherever the space is limited. In general, the plant gets smaller and produces a bit less grown in a pot than grown in a field. According to fruits size, color, shape, or taste, you can find almost everything you are looking for in the D. T. P. There are varieties from the sweetest cherry to the juiciest beefsteak. Normal-sized varieties perfect for canning or fresh eating or paste-types great for cooking or sauces. What you can't find are longkeeper varieties. Color-vise there is anything from white-yellow-green to orange-red-brown-black to striped and multi-colored. What you can't find is antho-colored varieties though. We have to keep calm and wait!

Coorong Pink DTP Dwarf Tomato
Coorong Pink, ‘Coorong Pink Tomato’, is a dwarf variety growing up to 100-150cm in height, slightly higher than the regular dwarf. Heavy yielder of smooth, flattened small to mid-sized tomatoes around 100-200 grams each. Beautiful pink, juicy and meaty fruits with a mild and sweet taste. Rugose, dark green foliage, regular leaf. From a cross between ”Wilpena” och 'Cherokee Purple.' Was first grown by Patrina Nuske Small in 2008 and was then called 'Plentiful.' ”The Coorong” is a wetland of international importance in southern Australia. Introduced in 2016. Crimson Sockeye DTP Dwarf Tomato
Crimson Sockeye, ‘Crimson Sockeye', is a dwarf variety growing up to 100cm in height. Heavy yielder of smooth, flattened, ribbed small to mid-sized beefsteak tomatoes around 100-300 grams each. Beautiful crimson-red fruits with fine green stripes. Juicy with an excellent well-balanced flavor. Rugose, dark green foliage. From a cross between 'Rosella Purple' and 'Pink Berkeley Tie Dye’. Was first grown by Patrina Nuske Small in 2009 and was then called "Tidy”. It was later developed and selected and named by Ted Maiden and Sue Bailey. It would seem like 2 strains of 'Crimson Sockeye' have turned up, one with stipes ('Pink Berkeley Tie Dye’) and one without stripes ('Rosella Purple'). Deaton's Dwarf – NOT is a dwarf variety growing up to 90cm in average in height. ‘Deaton’s Dwarf’ is a heavy yielder of chocolate-brown fruits, but some of our plants in 2022 produced green fruits instead. ‘Deaton's Dwarf – NOT’ produces round, mid-sized fruits around 80-200 grams each, the same shape and size as its sibling. Was developed between 2006 and 2011 from a selection from "the Grumpy Family", a cross between 'Budai Torpe' and 'Black from Tula', by Patrina Nuske Small in 2006. A selection grown by Richard Allen in Australia was then sent to Sue Bailey in Alaska. Bailey selected and named 'Iditarod Red' after a famous dog sled race between Anchorage and Nome, Alaska.
