Dwarf
Dwarf tomatoes usually grow to 70-120cm in height. Not to be confused with micro dwarfs that are considerably lower. Dwarf tomatoes grow with thicker, stronger stems compared to the bush varieties, that grow with more slender stems. Many of the dwarf varieties are determinate. Determinate means that the plant will grow to a certain size and shape and then set fruit, the harvest period normally is around 10-20 days. After this, the plant is "done" and dies. Some of the dwarf varieties are semi-determinate or indeterminate, meaning that they will continue to grow and produce until the fall/winter. Dwarfs normally don't need much staking or support height-wise. But they will need staking or support on the width. The branches get heavy when the plant sets fruit and will fall over without staking. In general, dwarf varieties need no pruning. If the plant would get too large, it can of course be cut a bit. Maralinga NOT Dwarf Tomato
Maralinga NOT is a dwarf variety growing up to 100cm in height. Heavy yielder of smooth, oblate mid-sized tomatoes, around 200grams each. Red to dark pink fruits with a fresh, fruity, and sweet flavor. Rugose, dark green foliage. This variety came to us as ‘Maralinga Dwarf Tomato’ - Maralinga has darker fruits though, thus the "NOT". Wherokowhai NOT Dwarf Tomato
Wherokowhai NOT is a dwarf variety growing up to 100cm in height. Heavy yielder of flattened mid-sized tomatoes around 100-150grams each. Dark-red fruits with excellent, fresh, and fruity flavor. Rugose, dark green foliage. The original seeds of this variety came to us as 'Wherokowhai'. 'Wherokowhai', though, is a bicolor variety, and ours turned out crimson. Idaho Gem NOT Dwarf Tomato
Idaho Gem NOT is a dwarf variety growing up to 100cm in average in height. ‘Idaho Gem’ is a heavy yielder of true yellow fruits around 100-300gram. But some of our plants in 2022 produced ivory-shimmering, almost translucent, fruits in white with a green-pink blush. The fruits were also more oblate and a bit larger than ‘Idaho Gem’.
