Applegreen is a more compact aubergine growing to about 50cm in height. Produces apple-sized, light green fruits. White tender flesh with little bitterness. Developed by Elwyn Meader at the University of New Hampshire in 1964. Also does well in colder weather and shorter seasons. Solanum melongena. ISO. 15seeds/pack

Astrakom is an aubergine or eggplant producing elongated, cylindrical-chubby fruits, up to 10cm long. Pretty, dark-purple fruits with tender white, sweet flesh. Quite compact plants, around 50-60cm high. Does well also in cooler climates with shorter seasons. From a Soviet-era breeding program, named after the city of Astrakhan, near the Volga River in Russia. Was introduced by Belorussian seed saver Andrey Baranovsky. ISO. 60D.
