From most species of beans, you find both pole-varieties and bush-varieties. Also semi-trailing, medium-high varieties exist. Pole beans are climbing and need support, poles, nets, or other support. Bush beans normally grow to about 40cm high and 40cm wide, but also smaller and larger varieties exist. Bush beans normally don't dees support.

How to Grow

Longbeans do not tolerate cold soils and want a warmer climate than the common bean. If sown into cold soil, the seeds will rot. Sow the seeds about 3-5cm deep. In the south, the seeds can be sown directly in the ground. In the north, it is better to sow in pots for later planting in the garden. Also best grown in a greenhouse, if grown in the north. Pole beans can be planted at a distance of 10-15cm. Bush beans are planted at a distance of about 40cm between the plants.
